THE PIR OF THE GALIBIYYE ORDER,
AL-GHAWTH AL-A’ZAM
HAJI GALIP HASSAN KUŞÇUOĞLU (may Allah sanctify his secret)
His admiration of physics and metaphysics originated from his disposition such that in his primary school years he had made a night lamb from leclanche cells and used it when electricity lines had not been set up in Çorum yet.
He grew up in a sufi environment. His mother and father were both dervishes, and his uncle, Haji Bekir Kuşçuoğlu, was the Shaikh of Naqshbandiyya and Mawlawiyya orders.
In 1949, driven by the pressuring sufistic aspiration inside him, he had swore an oath of allegiance to the Qadir’i and Rifa’i Shaikh Haji Mustafa Yardımedici, the caliph of Sayyid Shaikh Ali Sezai Kurtaran who is also known as “the Conqueror of Maraş”. In 1956 on the Bara’ah night, he was heralded with his spiritual guidance duty (khilafat). After a few months, his Shaikh conveyed this duty to Master Galip.
From that day forward, with all his power, he endeavored to help people understand Islam and live according to Islam by giving spiritual guidance, sermons, religious talks and performing dhkirs. The following are some of the unique and significant characteristics of Haji Gâlip Hasan Kuşçuoğlu: He tells people the truths he knows endearingly, unthreateningly, without hesitation. He was also very sensitive about keeping tasawwuf out of politics. He emphasized on every occasion that he stood by “Democracy”, “Republic”, “Secularism” and “Human Rights”; that every person who believes in Allah is a Muslim and a brother/sister of the People of the Book. He never stopped helping the poor. He rendered it as a non-stop task of the Galibi charitable foundations he founded, and continuously encouraged his community (ikhwan) to maintaining it. He opened a number of social complexes (kulliyyahs), mosques, food banks and bread distribution centers in a number of provinces around Turkey in order to thoroughly perform divine services and carry out charitable foundation services. He himself designed their projects and supervised their construction processes.
In 1989, he was granted with the position (maqam) of al-ghawth al-a’zam during Umrah, and in 1993 he was granted with the title of Pir and the order of Galibiyye. He stated his sufistic and religious views and his experiences in the weekly talks he continued to give until the end of his days in the world and in the webpages opened in his own name. He also complied these views and experiences in the following books that he himself wrote on the computer despite his old age and that are being distributed gratuitously free of charge in the Galibi charitable foundations he founded: “The Brotherhood We Need”, “Tasawwuf and the Dhikr of Allah”, “Metaphysics 1”, “Metaphysics 2”, “The Mercy Drops of Modern Age: From the Divine Compassion to the Divine Wisdom”, “Tasattur, Hijab and Adab in the Quran”, “The Handbook of Makarimul Akhlaaq (The Honorable Morals) and Al-Tariq al Mustaqim (The Straight Path) for Galibi Dervishes in Charge, and Islamic Tasawwuf Principles”, “The Hadj Guide” and “Erudite Remarks and Experiences Compiled from Ahl al Hal”.
AL-GHAWTH AL-A’ZAM HAJI GALIP HASSAN KUŞÇUOĞLU
As a fruit of his guidance duty he fulfilled with a great enthusiasm and joy, he granted ratification (ijazah) from his order to Master Haji Ali Yetkinşekerci on 15th of March in 2011 in Antalya and to Master Haji Atıf Uzunömeroğlu on 19th of January in 2012 in Istanbul.
During his 96 years of life, he called everyone to benefit from his spiritual duty, and he took only the Allah’s sake as the norm. There are a number of academic studies about him. Entitled to the epithet “Shaikh Saadi Shirazi the Second” by Prophet Mohammad in a spiritual test, the Pir of the Galibiyye order, Al-Ghawth Al-A’zam Sayyid Sharif Haji Galip Hassan Kuşçuoğlu (may Allah sanctify his secret) passed away on 14th of December in 2013 in Antalya. He was buried in Istanbul Central Kulliyyah on the other day.
May the Almighty Allah be pleased with our Pir who stated in his talks, “Whoever hears my opinions from television or from Internet or in any other way and accepts them, I will also accept them as my sons and daughters. May Allah make our dervish lodge permanent in the name of Allah and the ultimate truth until the Day of Judgment.”
If you say that there is no god but Allah, you are a Muslim.
